The 2026 World Cup final was held in East Rutherford, USA, and ended with a 1-0 victory for Spain over Argentina. Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in extra time at the 106th minute.
After the match, a stage was set up on the field for the awards ceremony. The refereeing team, led by Slovenian Slavko Vinčić, was recognized. Individual awards were also presented.
The Argentine players then received silver medals. Captain Lionel Messi broke down in tears in front of the fans after the award.
The ceremony concluded with the honoring of the Spanish team. Captain Rodri received the trophy from U.S. President Donald Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The Spanish players then celebrated their victory as a team.
Other political figures also attended the ceremony, including King Felipe VI of Spain and Claudia Sheinbaum, President of Mexico, another host nation of the 2026 World Cup.
