Leading experts in archaeology, history, geology and other sciences gathered at Satbayev University to discuss the application of digital technologies in studying cities from the Golden Horde era, reports infohub.kz.

Meeting participants examined new methods for digital reconstruction of archaeological heritage, including 3D modeling, geographic information systems, and artificial intelligence technologies.

The event was organized as part of initiatives by the Head of State aimed at studying, preserving, and scientifically interpreting national historical heritage. Satbayev University places special emphasis on interdisciplinary research: engineering sciences, digital technologies, history and archaeology complement each other, opening new opportunities for reliable scientific results.

“Kazakhstan is a rather unique territory where the main cities of Golden Horde history are concentrated, and it has given the world a huge number of unique people, unique items of culture, everyday life, etc. The development of digital technologies allows us to incorporate GIS technologies and high-quality mapping into these studies. Now we are studying not just cities as separate centers, but we are getting a holistic picture of the development of this territory, its landscapes, and the dynamics of change,” said Saida Nigmatova, deputy director of the Satpayev Institute of Geological Sciences.
