On the second day of the Tupac Shakur murder trial in Las Vegas, expert testimony continued. Dr. Lisa Gavin, a forensic pathologist in Clark County, Nevada, testified as an expert analyst, reviewing the report and photos of Tupac Shakur's body from his autopsy. She described the injuries and stated the cause of death. This was reported by infohub.kz.
During the hearing, Dr. Gavin reviewed the autopsy report and photographs. She confirmed that the death was caused by gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen, and the manner of death was homicide. She highlighted the challenges of holding a murder trial 30 years after the death, noting that the medical examiner who conducted the original autopsy has since died. Gavin mentioned that she was in medical school in 1996, but has years of experience in interpreting evidence.
When photographs of Shakur's body were shown in court, most family members left the courtroom. Dr. Gavin also testified that the Nevada coroner's office records identifying Shakur's body include medical records, photographs, the autopsy report, the investigation report, and the toxicology report. She confirmed that the office had an affidavit from Shakur's mother confirming the body was her son's.
On the second day, a 1997 audio recording was played, featuring an interview between Duane "Keffe D" Davis, accused of orchestrating Shakur's shooting, and Fred Miller, a former Los Angeles police detective. Davis is charged with murder in connection with the 1996 shooting but has pleaded not guilty. Additionally, Michael Ingram, an investigator for MGM resorts, testified to authenticate surveillance video showing Shakur's entourage attacking Davis's nephew, Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson, hours before the shooting.
The trial continues in the coming days. Tupac Shakur was shot on September 7, 1996, in Las Vegas and died on September 13. The case has reached court nearly 30 years later.
