A US court has delivered a verdict in one of the most high-profile cases in entertainment history: Duane "Keffe D" Davis, the killer of legendary rapper Tupac Shakur, has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 40 years, according to infohub.kz.
Judge Carli Kierny handed down the sentence to the former leader of the South Side Compton Crips gang. "The aggregate term of imprisonment is 40 years to life. You are credited with 731 days served," the judge stated.
Earlier, Duane Davis was found guilty by a Las Vegas jury following years of investigation. The 63-year-old defendant had repeatedly publicly described his involvement in the events of the September night in 1996 when the 25-year-old performer was shot dead.
The musician's relatives expressed joy and relief that the jury found former gang leader Duane Davis guilty of Tupac Shakur's murder.
