Police in the Turkestan region, working with bloggers, have identified five vehicles with foreign license plates that were being driven without being registered in Kazakhstan, according to Polisia.kz.
The operations are part of the “Safe Road” preventive campaign. During one raid, officers stopped and inspected five cars: a Toyota Alphard, Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Camry, and BMW. All drivers were held administratively liable.
Police reminded vehicle owners to register their cars in Kazakhstan on time. Driving a car without state plates or an unregistered vehicle, or after a ban on operation, carries a fine of 10 MPR (43,250 tenge in 2026). For a repeat offense within a year, the fine doubles to 20 MPR, or the driver may lose their license for one year.
Police said such checks will continue. Earlier, the Interior Ministry could not give the exact number of foreign-plated cars in Kazakhstan.
