The animal came to a watering hole in Tarbagatai National Park, reports Orda.kz.
The park's forested mountains and rocky gorges provide a favorable habitat for the Turkestan lynx. In Kazakhstan, this species is extremely rare, so it is listed in the Red Book and protected.
The Turkestan lynx is a cautious and secretive animal, rarely seen by humans. Therefore, video footage from camera traps is of great scientific value, allowing experts to monitor the distribution, behavior, and population of this predator.
Earlier, a camera trap captured a Tian Shan brown bear in Zhetysu-Alatau National Park.
