A two-year-old child (born in 2024) died after falling into an outdoor toilet about 2.5 meters deep in the Tyulkubas district of the Turkestan region, according to the website infohub.kz. The child was left unattended by adults, preliminary reports indicate.
"Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, including the Department of Emergency Situations of the Turkestan Region, ambulance services, police, local authorities, and forestry services. Rescuers retrieved the child's body from the outdoor toilet," the department said.
The child could not be saved. An investigation into the circumstances is underway.
According to open-source monitoring, this is at least the third case of a child falling into an outdoor toilet or cesspool in the Turkestan region since the beginning of 2026. In March in the village of Akniet and in June in the village of Temirlan, children were rescued thanks to timely intervention. However, this latest incident marks the first such fatality this year.
Rescuers once again urge parents not to leave young children unattended, even for a short time. Owners of private homes are advised to securely close and fence off outdoor toilets, septic tanks, cesspools, and other potentially hazardous areas to prevent children from accessing them.
