A court in the Turkistan Region has sentenced six defendants in a shooting case that claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy, infohub.kz reports.
According to Channel Seven, masked gunmen opened fire on four young men on a street in the Tyulkubas District last November. The 17-year-old died at the scene, and three others were taken to hospital.
Seven people were involved in the case in total. One has been placed on the wanted list and is being pursued by investigators. The remaining six stood trial.
"Three of them arrived at the scene, used weapons and fired at the victim. The other three refused to go to the scene and use weapons. However, since they knew that weapons would be used, they should have reported this to police officers," said Daulet Madaliyev, chairman of the specialized inter-district court.
The court sentenced the main defendant to 20 years in prison — the harsh penalty was due to a repeat offense. Two others received 18-year prison terms. One defendant convicted of concealing the crime was sentenced to 3 years, and another to 2 years in prison. Another convicted person received 2 years and 8 months of restricted freedom. However, due to an amnesty, he was released in the courtroom.
Recall that in the early hours of November 2, 2025, a shooting incident was recorded in the Tyulkubas District. As a result, one person died and three were taken to a medical facility. Later, doctors reported on the condition of the victims — two people were hospitalized. Eyewitnesses also shared details of the shooting that led to the death of the 17-year-old teenager.
