An unprecedented June heatwave in the UK caused economic losses of £1.15 billion (approximately $1.5 billion) and led to around 2,700 excess deaths, according to a report by infohub.kz.
The study found that the heatwave reduced working hours for Britons, with the average worker putting in about 30 minutes less per day during the last week of June. Researchers noted that the country remains inadequately prepared for climate change, citing a lack of air conditioning in offices and public transport, as well as restrictions on installing AC in homes.
