The incident occurred in the UK, where the Sussex family has moved temporarily. School security noticed a suspicious white van that had been parked nearby for several hours. The people inside were watching the building.
Security staff passed the vehicle's license plate numbers to law enforcement. It turned out that the car had been rented, and the rental agreement was made using a driver's license belonging to an international paparazzo.
The situation caused serious alarm for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Their children have been attending the new school for only two weeks. Archie and Lilibet had to be transferred from their previous school precisely because of concerns from the private security service, which deemed the children's daily commutes unsafe.
Local publications abide by agreements with the British press regulator and do not disclose the location of the royal family's home and school, but foreign photographers are not bound by these rules.
Information about the incident has already been passed to a special committee of the UK Home Office, which is currently considering Prince Harry's request for official police protection for his family during their stay in the country.
