The UK government has advised households to build up a three-day supply of water and food in advance so they are ready for emergencies, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to a statement on the UK government's official website, the updated guidance was published on 23 October. It asks families across the country to take a few simple steps to prepare for temporary disruptions to everyday services.
"This guidance is the first phase of a three-year Be Ready campaign designed to help households across the UK better prepare for events such as severe weather, which can sometimes affect power, water, telephone and internet connections," the statement said.
The government said the campaign focuses on simple things people can do in advance, including keeping a small stock of non-perishable food and bottled water at home.
"Winter storms and this summer's wildfires have shown how severe weather can disrupt our daily lives and affect the services we rely on, from telephone communications to water and internet," the UK government said.
