Mariana Haievska-Kovbasiuk, spokesperson for Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office, told Ukrinform that a request had been received from President Volodymyr Zelensky's office to analyze the possibility of opening a criminal case against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, infohub.kz reports.
According to the representative of the supervisory agency, the request is still under review, and no criminal proceedings have been registered based on it.
As DW reports, the initiative came from representatives of the Belarusian opposition, who appealed to Zelensky's office.
They propose opening criminal proceedings under articles on waging an aggressive war, war crimes, financing terrorism, encroachment on Ukraine's territorial integrity, genocide, and war propaganda.
Attached to the request is a letter from Zelensky's office stating that the inquiry has been forwarded to Ukraine's Prosecutor General.
