The reconstruction of railway stations at Zhanaarka, Kyzylzhar and Karazhal has been completed in the Ulytau region, reports infohub.kz.
Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport said that at all three facilities, roofs were renewed, exterior and interior finishing was completed, and water supply, sewerage, heating and electricity systems were modernized. Platforms were also reconstructed, surrounding areas were landscaped, and new emergency exits were installed.
Modern, durable and fire-safe materials of Kazakhstani production were used for the finishing.
The station building at Zhanaarka, built in 1971, was reconstructed while preserving the existing structure with an area of 315.1 square meters. Twelve passenger trains pass through the station daily, connecting it with Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Pavlodar, Kyzylorda, Mangistau and Beineu.
The station building at Kyzylzhar, built in 2012, was also preserved. Its area is 103.8 square meters. Ten passenger trains run through the station daily on the same routes.
The station building at Karazhal, built in 1958, after reconstruction is a building with an area of 395.94 square meters. Two passenger trains pass through the station, providing connections with Karaganda.
The Ministry of Transport noted that the reconstruction will improve the level of service, create more comfortable conditions for passengers, and enhance transport services for residents and guests of the Ulytau region.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that in the Akmola region, the reconstruction of five railway stations was completed — Yerementau, Derzhavinskaya, Ulenty, Yerkinshilik and Zhaltyr. At three stations, old buildings were completely demolished and new complexes were built, while at the other two, existing stations were updated. All facilities had utility networks modernized, surrounding areas landscaped, new equipment installed, and some stations were equipped with ramps for passengers with reduced mobility.
