In the first quarter of 2026, the average monthly salary in the Ulytau region reached 637,300 tenge — 43.2% higher than the national average, reports the website infohub.kz.

The Bureau of National Statistics released data on wages of employees (including small businesses engaged in entrepreneurial activities) for the first quarter of 2026. According to the statistics, the Ulytau region ranked first among Kazakhstan's regions in average monthly salary.

From January to March, the average salary in the region was 637,300 tenge. This is 192,300 tenge, or 43.2%, higher than the national average of 445,100 tenge.

The next positions were held by Atyrau and Mangystau regions, where average monthly salaries were 610,100 and 608,400 tenge, respectively. They were followed by Astana with 559,900 tenge and Almaty with 551,600 tenge. Thus, Ulytau outpaced not only other industrial regions but also the country's largest cities.

The high wage level is largely due to the region's industrial specialization. The economy of Ulytau is based on the mining and metallurgical complex, whose enterprises drive demand for skilled professionals and offer higher wages compared to many other sectors.

An important role in the economy and employment of the region is played by the Kazakhmys group of companies, one of the largest employers in the region. The group's enterprises provide jobs for Ulytau residents, develop production, and implement projects to modernize existing facilities.
