In the Ulytau Region, a road connecting several settlements has fallen into disrepair, and local residents are demanding urgent repairs to the Satpayev-Syroba highway, reports infohub.kz.
According to Astana.tv, the road links villages such as Severny and Malshybay, as well as several mines. The road surface is now riddled with potholes and deep ruts. Even a bus struggles to pass, let alone passenger cars, and with the arrival of autumn and rains, the situation could worsen further.
Local residents say the highway has not seen repairs for many years. According to them, heavy machinery that travels daily along this section destroys the asphalt, turning an already poor road into a real obstacle course.
"Now, because large machinery drives there, the roads are being destroyed, it's just a terrible condition. Complaints are coming from village residents. They fill the potholes as much as they can. But no asphalt has been laid. There are several mines nearby. The road leads there. So, for example, if a worker misses the bus, he drives his own car. The bus does run, in principle. But even for it, this creates inconvenience. Mostly it's an old road, it hasn't been repaired for several years," said local resident Azamat Yerlanuly.
The regional department of passenger transport and highways confirmed that the technical condition of the road is indeed unsatisfactory and announced plans for its repair.
"On the section of the regional highway in the direction of Satpayev-Malshybay, at the 22nd kilometer, where there were many broken sections and deep pits, work was carried out: pits were dug out, filled with rocky soil and crushed stone, and gravel-sand mixture was laid on top. In total, 7,000 square meters of the section have been restored," said Yerlan Tusupov, deputy head of the regional department of passenger transport and highways.
