United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, meeting with Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi, noted the republic's growing role in an emerging multipolar world and called Kazakhstan a "bridge-builder," infohub.kz reports.
According to the press service of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the foreign minister conveyed greetings from Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev to the Secretary-General and noted Guterres's personal contribution to strengthening comprehensive cooperation between the republic and the United Nations.
During the talks, the two sides discussed current international agenda issues and priority areas of interaction within the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
Mukhtar Tileuberdi reaffirmed support for the Secretary-General's efforts to improve the Organization's effectiveness. In this context, particular attention was given to the work of the UN Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty as a key platform for the regional dimension of multilateral cooperation.
António Guterres, for his part, emphasized Kazakhstan's ability to maintain constructive relations with key international partners.
At the end of the meeting, Kazakhstan's foreign minister left an entry in the UN Book of Distinguished Guests, noting the Secretary-General's contribution to strengthening multilateralism and Kazakhstan's unwavering commitment to further interaction within the Organization.
