Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, called the United States' decision to execute a man on live television repugnant. He made the statement during a briefing with journalists, according to infohub.kz.

"Public executions or executions in front of live cameras are, frankly, repugnant," Dujarric said.

Earlier, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said that the execution of American soldier Nidal Malik Hasan was planned to be broadcast live.

In addition, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights said that broadcasting the execution live would violate the prohibition of torture.

It was previously reported that Donald Trump approved the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, who killed 13 people and wounded 32 others at Fort Hood.

This will be the first execution of an American service member by firing squad since World War II.

The execution date was later set for December 3, 2026.

Today it became known that the execution is intended to be made public.
