On August 18, unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC) are expected in Almaty and Atyrau, reports the website infohub.kz.

According to weather forecasters, UMC are predicted in Almaty, and at night in Atyrau.

As experts explained, unfavorable weather conditions occur when calm, light wind, fog, and temperature inversion combine. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, leading to deterioration of air quality.

Forecasters warn that during such periods, the risk of negative health impacts increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.

The level of air pollution is influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity, and air temperature.

Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near highways and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.

People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as allergy sufferers, are recommended to have necessary medications on hand. Experts advise limiting outdoor physical activity and, if possible, moving workouts indoors.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that on August 18, unstable weather is expected in most regions of Kazakhstan. Kazhydromet forecasts rain and thunderstorms, with hail and squalls in some places.
