Unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in six cities across Kazakhstan on October 1, with air quality potentially deteriorating. The news was reported by infohub.kz, citing Kazhydromet.

According to forecasters, unfavorable weather conditions are predicted in Atyrau, Aktobe and Ust-Kamenogorsk, and overnight in Almaty, Zhezkazgan and Balkhash.

Such conditions form during calm weather, light wind, fog and temperature inversion. In this kind of weather, pollutants can accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, worsening air quality.

Pollution levels are also affected by precipitation, humidity and air temperature. During periods of unfavorable weather conditions, people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases should pay particularly close attention to how they feel.

Residents are advised to limit their time outdoors, especially near busy roads and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are best off avoiding long walks.

People with chronic illnesses and allergies are advised to keep necessary medications on hand. Outdoor sports activities should be moved indoors where possible.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that storm warnings had been issued in a number of regions of Kazakhstan for October 1. Forecasters predict rain, thunderstorms, fog and strong wind, while high and extreme fire danger persists in some areas, Kazhydromet reports.
