Tragedy in Uralsk: 10-Year-Old Boy Dies After Electrocution at Substation

A tragedy occurred in the village of Krugloozernoye near Uralsk: a 10-year-old boy died after climbing onto an electrical substation. The incident happened on September 1, and the child was buried on September 3, reports the website infohub.kz.

Local residents reported the death of the schoolboy from electric shock. The police department of the West Kazakhstan region confirmed the information and said that on September 1, 2026, at approximately 20:30, a 10-year-old child climbed onto an electrical substation, where he was electrocuted.

"As a result of the fall from a height and the injuries sustained, the boy died at the scene without regaining consciousness. Necessary investigative actions are being carried out, and all circumstances of the incident are being established," the department said.

On September 3, the child was given his last rites. As parents of his classmates said, the boy was lively, friendly, and very inquisitive.

"On September 1, like all students, he attended school. He came home, ate, and went outside. In the evening of that day, his death became known," the parents of his classmates say.

Villagers are sure that he would never have climbed onto the substation deliberately, knowing the danger of electricity.

"Friends who were nearby did not even notice how he slipped away and ended up at the substation. They realized what had happened only at the moment of the shock: strong sparks flared, the boy was thrown back, and he hit his head. Later it turned out that the voltage was 10,000 volts, and the electric discharge passed from his shoulder to his toe," local residents say.

The young witnesses immediately called the deceased's brother. He ran to the scene and tried to give artificial respiration, but only caught the last breath. Villagers say that the strongest electric shock affected all internal organs.

Local residents note that the dangerous facility was openly accessible: the territory was not fenced, the substation doors were often left unlocked, and wires were sticking out. Children regularly played near this place.

The deceased was a fifth-grade student at a local school, aged 10. Acquaintances remember him as a smart, capable, and kind child who always politely greeted all neighbors and adults when meeting.
