A court in Oral (Uralsk) has ordered 10 million tenge in compensation for moral harm to be paid to a child injured in a road accident, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the press service of the West Kazakhstan Regional Court, case materials show that a KamAZ truck struck the child. The child suffered severe injuries in the accident and was subsequently assigned first-group disability status. The child's ability to move independently is currently limited.

The court found that the owner of the vehicle, which is a source of increased danger, is obliged to compensate the moral harm caused to the child.

The plaintiff sought 60 million tenge in compensation for moral harm. Taking into account the moral suffering, the causal link between that suffering and the accident, the severity of the consequences for the child's health and the need for lengthy treatment, the court set the compensation at 10 million tenge.

In addition, the claim for material damages was rejected because the stated expenses had been covered within the insurance payout.

The court partially upheld the claim and ruled that the defendant must pay the plaintiff 10 million tenge in compensation for moral harm. The ruling has not yet entered into legal force.
