A court in Uralsk has fully upheld a lawsuit filed by 17 former teachers over the protection of their labor rights, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the press service of the West Kazakhstan Regional Court, the former gymnasium employees were dismissed upon reaching retirement age. However, their employment contracts were terminated on the basis of resignation letters submitted at their own request. As a result, the teachers were deprived of the one-time compensation provided upon retirement.
The court found that the employer had failed to follow the established procedure for terminating employment contracts due to employees' retirement and had not notified them properly.
The court ruled that the termination of the contracts with the 17 teachers be recognized as related to their reaching retirement age and retiring. The gymnasium was ordered to pay each of them a one-time compensation equal to one official salary.
The court ruling has not yet entered into legal force.
