A driver in Uralsk will pay a fine for an obscene inscription on the frame of his car's state registration license plate — the penalty amounted to 86,500 tenge, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the press service of the West Kazakhstan Regional Court, a specialized court for administrative offenses in Uralsk heard the case of a driver who was operating an unregistered vehicle. The license plate frame of the car bore an inscription of indecent content.

During the proceedings, the court examined photographic evidence, which established that the inscription contained a gross obscene expression.

The court noted that placing such inscriptions on the exterior of a vehicle makes them visible to an indefinite number of people, including minors. It added that the use of obscene language in public space runs counter to generally accepted norms of behavior, morality and decency.

Following the hearing, the driver was found guilty of an administrative offense under Part 1 of Article 434 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offenses (petty hooliganism).

By court order, he was given an administrative penalty in the form of an 86,500 tenge fine. The court ruling has not yet entered into legal force.
