A suspect in the theft of blood pressure monitors from pharmacies has been detained in Uralsk. He is a 50-year-old resident of the city, reports infohub.kz.
According to the information media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a theft recently occurred in one of Uralsk's pharmacies. "An unknown man, taking advantage of the fact that medical devices were in an open and accessible place, waited for the moment when the salesperson was busy with another customer. Seizing the opportunity, he discreetly placed a blood pressure monitor from the shelf into his bag," the ministry said.
After that, the ministry noted, the man continued to behave like an ordinary customer to avoid suspicion. After waiting his turn, he paid for the medicines he had selected and calmly left the pharmacy.
"The man did not stop there. Later he entered another pharmacy in the city and stole another blood pressure monitor in a similar manner," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
As a result of operational search activities, the suspect's identity was established and he was detained. He turned out to be a 50-year-old resident of Uralsk.
During the investigation, it was also established that this individual had visited boutiques in the city's large shopping centers where clothing thefts had occurred. An investigation into these facts is currently underway.
