Russian coach Alexei Urmanov has commented on figure skater Mikhail Shaidorov's disappointing performance at a Grand Prix stage, where the Olympic champion finished tenth overall, infohub.kz reports.
The specialist gave his assessment in an interview with the Telegram channel "Podumayu nad etim zavtra." According to him, it is objectively difficult for the skater to compete right after the Olympic Games, and the current stage is only the start of the season.
"Of course, it is a bit hard for a skater to perform after the Olympic Games. Besides, this is only the start of the season. So I am not going to turn what happened into some kind of catastrophe. What happened, happened. We keep working, that's all," Urmanov said.
The coach stressed that all people and all skaters are different, and each has their own story. He noted that he learned from his own experience, and his charge will also have to learn from his, which takes time.
"We just work and keep working hard," Urmanov added.
Recall that at the first stage of the international series, the Olympic champion made several errors in the short and free programs. Scoring 206.55 points, Shaidorov finished tenth overall. That result will not allow him to qualify for the Grand Prix Final.
Earlier, Shaidorov himself issued a statement after his disappointing performance at the Grand Prix stage.
