From September 21 to 25, Kazakhstan will undergo an international flight safety assessment conducted by US representatives. This stage will be a decisive step in two years of negotiations on launching direct flights from Kazakhstan to the United States, reports infohub.kz.
American inspectors will evaluate how the republic monitors flight safety. The audit will cover aviation legislation, pilot training and the technical condition of aircraft for compliance with ICAO international standards.
"The expert team includes specialists in international aviation law, licensing of aviation personnel, airworthiness and flight operations," the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan said.
In addition, on September 24 US specialists will make a technical visit to Air Astana, which has applied to the US Department of Transportation for permission to conduct commercial operations. The commission will check the transparency of the carrier's processes.
After the inspection is completed, the American side will hold a briefing and provide a written report on the results of the audit.
Successfully passing this stage will bring the opening of direct flights between Kazakhstan and the United States closer.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, with which Air Astana expects to operate direct flights from Kazakhstan to New York and Tokyo, will arrive in the republic in December 2026.
