American intelligence agencies have presented scientists with a plan of action in case of contact with extraterrestrial intelligence. The US also expects to play a leading role in such a scenario, reports infohub.kz.
According to the German newspaper Bild, the US government has a ready plan for what to do if aliens make contact with Earthlings. American scientists were informed of this at a meeting with intelligence leadership. Moreover, in communicating with "non-human intelligence," the US wants to assume international leadership.
The meeting took place at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). There, intelligence officials hosted the congressionally mandated Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Science Advisory Council (UAPSAC). It was noted that the council includes psychologist Dr. Janice Willhauer, Harvard astronomer Professor Avi Loeb, and immunology researcher Professor Garry Nolan. On the Substack online platform, Willhauer discussed the US plan regarding aliens after the meeting.
Willhauer emphasizes that the existence of this plan does not mean the US government is thereby confirming the existence of extraterrestrial life or preparing a corresponding announcement. However, according to the expert, Washington considers such a possibility serious enough. "The very fact that they are taking it seriously is significant," says the psychologist. In her assessment, the consequences of first contact with aliens would be so profound that a coordinated response would be required. The US aspiration for an international leadership role is also an important signal for Willhauer. It shows that the government views confirmation of non-human intelligence as a global event requiring cooperation among all nations.
However, the psychologist did not provide any details. According to Willhauer, immense preparation is needed for the potential consequences of confirming the existence of aliens: training for police officers, teachers, medical personnel, mental health professionals, clergy, civil defense workers, and local authorities. Additionally, reliable support centers must be established—for example, to inform the public and provide long-term assistance to people who will be shaken by changes in their worldview or experience fear.
