Last night, American forces carried out a series of strikes on targets inside Iran, hitting nearly 100 sites. The Pentagon's Central Command (CENTCOM) said the attacks were aimed at positions of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including air defense systems, radar stations, naval infrastructure, mine-laying equipment, and communication nodes, according to infohub.kz.
In an official statement posted on X, CENTCOM emphasized that the strikes were in response to recent attempts by the IRGC to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. military personnel. Axios reported that U.S. officials confirmed about 100 targets were hit.
Additionally, it was reported that U.S. forces struck two tankers owned by the Iranian government as part of this series of strikes. The outlet noted that this is the first time U.S. forces have targeted Iranian tankers in response to Iran's attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, rather than to prevent them from violating a naval blockade.
Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, stated a condition for returning to a truce with the United States. Today, new U.S. attacks were reported: a wedding ceremony in one province was hit, with reports of five dead and nearly 70 injured. The head of Iran's parliamentary committee on national security and foreign policy, Ebrahim Azizi, said Tehran will not leave this attack unanswered.
U.S. President Donald Trump said he is not trying to force Iran to the negotiating table, as he is satisfied with the current situation.
