A PFL event was held in New York on August 1, 2026, and Russian mixed martial artist Usman Nurmagomedov defeated American Archie Colgan by knockout in the main event, according to infohub.kz.

The bout headlined the card. Nurmagomedov was defending his lightweight championship belt (up to 70.3 kg), while Colgan was ranked in the division's top three.

The fight was scheduled for five rounds but ended early. Within the opening five minutes, the Russian dropped his opponent. The American managed to continue but soon found himself in trouble again, and Nurmagomedov finished the bout by knockout to remain the reigning PFL champion. Khabib Nurmagomedov, the fighter's coach and a former UFC titleholder, presented the belt to the winner.

Jake Paul, who is set to lead the merged promotion, also congratulated the champion. It was previously announced that his MVP league would absorb PFL by the end of 2026.

The victory was Nurmagomedov's fifth in a row. Overall, the 28-year-old has 22 wins and one no-contest in professional MMA. He also tops the PFL rankings regardless of weight class.

Colgan suffered his first career defeat. The 31-year-old American has 13 wins to his name.
