A 28-year-old local woman has become the subject of a pre-trial investigation in Ust-Kamenogorsk, where she is suspected of producing fake temporary residence permits for foreign nationals, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to NUR.KZ, citing Polisia.kz, officers from the Ust-Kamenogorsk migration service uncovered three fraudulent temporary residence permits for foreign citizens during operational and preventive measures.

"The documents did not go through the established processing procedure and were not listed among those issued by the authorized unit. According to preliminary data, a 28-year-old local resident was involved in producing the documents. The permits were intended for three citizens of a neighboring country aged 25, 33 and 37," police said.

A check of official records confirmed that the migration service had not issued the documents. A pre-trial investigation is now underway, and the woman has been placed under a measure of restraint in the form of an obligation to appear.

"The lawful stay of foreign citizens in Kazakhstan is possible only with documents processed in the established manner. The use of fake permits may entail liability under the law," law enforcement officials reminded.
