A heavy downpour hit Ust-Kamenogorsk on July 28, flooding streets, damaging cars, and disrupting traffic, reports infohub.kz.
Residents of Ust-Kamenogorsk shared videos on social media showing the aftermath. Roads in the regional center were submerged, and drivers faced particular difficulties—many could not reach their destinations. The footage showed some cars breaking down in puddles, while others caught fire and had to be extinguished.
As water levels did not recede, some residents had to abandon their vehicles and walk through the flooded streets.
The Ust-Kamenogorsk city administration said that municipal services are working in enhanced mode due to the heavy rain. Currently, rainwater is being pumped from flooded areas. Work is underway at the following locations: Michaelis Street, Ushanov Square, and the Children's Market area.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and are gradually pumping water from the most problematic areas of the city.
