An unusual traffic accident occurred in Ust-Kamenogorsk: a car struck a pole, hit a parked vehicle and nearly crashed into the gates of a church. Video of the driver's strange behavior spread on social media, with users suggesting the man behind the wheel was intoxicated, infohub.kz reports.
According to the Police Department of the East Kazakhstan Region, the incident was recorded on October 22 in the courtyard of a building on Ostrovsky Street. Preliminary information indicates that the driver of a Toyota Town Ace hit a parked Nissan Sunny. An administrative protocol was drawn up against him under Part 1 of Article 610 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan — a traffic violation resulting in damage to a vehicle and material loss.
The department's press service said that, according to a narcologist's assessment, alcohol and drug intoxication were not established. The driver reported that he has a cardiovascular condition and takes medication. An additional laboratory test has been ordered to determine whether the drugs may have affected his condition.
An inspection by utility service representatives found no damage to the pole or pipe. A final legal assessment will be made based on the results of the medical examination. If grounds exist, the driver's actions will be given additional legal assessment.
