Maria Teresa Brito, president of the regional Chamber of Real Estate, has reported on the scale of destruction in Venezuela following the recent earthquake, according to infohub.kz.
She provided preliminary data. According to her, specialists from civil defense, fire services, and engineers are continuing to inspect damaged buildings, so final figures on the extent of destruction are not yet available.
"In the Playa Grande area, the share of uninhabitable housing could reach 80%... As for the Catia la Mar parish, there the share of uninhabitable housing could be between 70 and 80 percent. In the eastern part, in the Macuto and Caraballeda areas, this indicator is also around 70 percent," Brito said.
About 16,000 people are currently staying in temporary shelters, having lost their homes. She also reported that many residents of the most affected areas are now looking for rental housing in the central part of the state, both for living and for running businesses.
The law on guarantees for lease contracts adopted by parliament should increase landlords' confidence and facilitate the search for housing for those affected, she believes.
Earlier we wrote about the destructive earthquakes in Venezuela that occurred on June 24. After that, a state of emergency was declared in the country. The day before, authorities said that over 6,000 people had died as a result.
