Venezuela has recorded its first fatalities from hantavirus. Three people with laboratory-confirmed diagnoses died in Anzoátegui state, according to infohub.kz.
Additionally, two healthcare workers died in Barinas state. The causes of their deaths are being investigated.
The Ministry of Health reminded that hantavirus is primarily transmitted to humans through contact with infected rodents or their excretions. To date, there is no scientific evidence of human-to-human transmission in Venezuela.
The agency assured that the national public health system is operating as usual and monitoring the epidemiological situation. Official results of the investigation will be published after its completion.
