During a speech by Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar in the city of Szolnok, an unknown person threw an egg toward the stage, but missed the target, reports infohub.kz.
According to the publication, citing Index, the incident was caught on the broadcast of Peter Magyar's speech, but what exactly was thrown initially remained unclear. After the incident, two bodyguards appeared behind the prime minister, after which he interrupted his speech and addressed his opponents.
"If you want to douse me, just come up here, no problem," said Peter Magyar.
Later, plainclothes police officers detained a man, and it then became clear that he had thrown an egg. According to the publication, the detainee expressed regret that he had not hit the prime minister in the head. He resisted, after which police officers wrestled him to the ground.
It was not immediately possible to continue the speech due to shouts from the crowd. After a break, the politician returned to the stage and asked supporters not to be angry with the attackers. He attributed their behavior to disappointment with the country's former leadership.
"Their disappointment is understandable, because they were deceived and then left alone," added the Hungarian prime minister.
