An Emergency Situations Ministry helicopter was scrambled in the Kyzylorda Region to save an infant's life, Kazakhstan's 112 rescue service reported, according to infohub.kz.
The newborn was rushed from Zhanakorgan to a hospital in the regional capital. The reason for the emergency transfer has not been disclosed. The flight, however, ended safely, and the baby is now under doctors' care.
A Kazaviaspas helicopter was used for the medical flight, with medical staff monitoring the infant's condition throughout the journey.
According to the Health Ministry, Kazakhstan's air ambulance service flew almost 1,500 missions in the first eight months of 2026 alone. Over that period, special aircraft rushed 1,543 critically ill patients to specialized hospitals, while doctors provided remote assistance in 4,703 cases. On average, the air ambulance service makes about two thousand flights a year, the ministry noted.
Last year, the air ambulance service carried out 9 overseas missions, evacuating patients from Turkey, Germany, South Korea, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan and Egypt.
In the first eight months of this year, there were just as many such flights, with critically ill patients brought back from Albania, Italy, Turkey, China, Thailand, Russia and Uzbekistan. The National Coordination Center for Emergency Medicine organizes all of these complex routes.
