A graphic video showing the beating of a minor in Almaty has gone viral, prompting a criminal investigation, according to infohub.kz.
The footage, published on the Telegram channel HALYQSTAN, depicts a group of girls punching their peer in the face, pulling her hair, humiliating her, forcing her to kneel, and filming the abuse.
The post stated that one of the perpetrators—also a minor—uploaded the video to social media. It was later deleted, but by then police had already reviewed it.
A correspondent sought comment from the Almaty Police Department. Officials said the video captured illegal actions by a group of young people against a minor, and a criminal case has been opened.
"All participants in the incident have been identified. A full range of investigative measures is underway to comprehensively and objectively establish all circumstances of the incident," police said.
The investigation is being monitored by the leadership of the Almaty Police Department.
