A car manufacturing complex with investments of at least 110 billion tenge is planned in the East Kazakhstan Region. The project involves Chinese investors, and the plant's capacity will reach 80,000 vehicles per year, infohub.kz reports.

The corresponding agreement was signed during the Kazakhstan–China investment forum by the akim of the East Kazakhstan Region and East Motors Corporation. The document provides for the construction of a complex for the production of passenger cars, specialized equipment, and modern engines.

The project envisages a phased transition from large-unit (DKD/SKD) to small-unit (CKD) assembly with the development of welding and painting facilities and an increase in localization. After reaching full capacity, output will be up to 80,000 vehicles per year. Localization is planned to be brought to 50% with subsequent increase.

For the production of passenger cars, the investor must create facilities worth 77.85 billion tenge and ensure output of at least 25,000 vehicles per year. Another 8.65 billion tenge is allocated for additional fixed assets. Production will include welding, processing, painting, and body assembly.

For trucks, tractors, and special equipment, the volume of production assets must be at least 15.14 billion tenge, and capacity must be at least 10,000 units per year. The enterprise plans welding, painting, and assembly, as well as the production of bodies, cabins, and equipment.

The total investment must be at least 110 billion tenge. The vehicles produced at the plant are planned to be exported to the EAEU member states, Central Asian countries, and other foreign markets.

The project is being implemented by East Motors Corporation. According to Adata, it is owned by Dong Feng Kazakhstan, which may be linked to the Chinese automaker Dongfeng, as well as Tricar Motors. The owners of the latter are Serik Azhimuratov, Karakat Mukhamadieva, Dmitry Nesterov, and through another company, Serikzhan Bayakhmetov and Zhanna Shakenova.

It was previously reported that the launch of new production at the site of the former Asia Auto plant is being discussed in Ust-Kamenogorsk. Among the potential participants in the project is the Chinese Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
