German automaker Volkswagen has brought its new ID. Aura T6 electric crossover to the Chinese market, with a starting price of around 8.7 million tenge, according to infohub.kz.
Deliveries of the model began on September 20 in Guangzhou. The crossover is offered in four trim levels. The entry-level 540 Pro is priced at 129,000 yuan, equivalent to roughly 8.7 million tenge. The 660 Pro version costs 139,000 yuan — about 9.4 million tenge. The 660 Max trim is priced at 149,000 yuan, or almost 10.0 million tenge. The top-of-the-line 660 Ultra is priced at 166,000 yuan — approximately 11.2 million tenge.
The ID. Aura T6 is one of the first vehicles built on the CEA architecture, which Volkswagen developed jointly with Xpeng.
The crossover measures 4.81 m long, 1.88 m wide and 1.65 m tall. Its wheelbase is 2.836 m, and its drag coefficient is 0.245 Cd. The vehicle is available with 19- and 20-inch wheels.
The electric motor is mounted on the rear axle and produces 170 kW, or 228 hp. Buyers can choose between 59.9 kWh and 77.5 kWh batteries. Depending on the version, range is between 540 and 660 km on the CLTC cycle and between 446 and 541 km on WLTP.
Despite its imposing dimensions, the ID. Aura T6's cabin seats five. Cargo capacity is 576 liters. A 10.25-inch screen sits in front of the driver, while the central infotainment display measures 15.6 inches diagonally. A 25.8-inch augmented-reality head-up display is also offered.
The infotainment system runs on a 4-nanometer chip with up to 20 TOPS of performance and supports Apple CarPlay, HiCar and CarLink. In addition, the crossover is equipped with a LiDAR-based driver assistance system and a Horizon Robotics Journey 6H chip with 420 TOPS of computing power. It supports Highway NOA and Urban Pilot functions.
The base version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds. According to Volkswagen, the ID. Aura T6's battery can be charged in 22 minutes.
Overall, Volkswagen's new electric crossover in China starts at 129,000 yuan, or roughly 8.7 million tenge, and is aimed at competing with EVs from Xpeng, Leapmotor and GAC Aion.
