Filming of the mini-series "Volokolamsk Highway," based on Alexander Bek's novella of the same name, is beginning in the Moscow region. The project's main character will be Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, reports infohub.kz.

The novella is dedicated to the defense of Moscow on the Volokolamsk axis and the feat of the soldiers of the 8th Guards Rifle Division, later known as the Panfilov heroes. The narrative is told from the perspective of Senior Lieutenant Bauyrzhan Momyshuly.

In the series, Momyshuly will also be the main character. Filming of the pilot episode is scheduled for late November, and the film company Kino-Genom has announced a casting call for the lead role.

The candidate must have extensive film experience and resemble the historical prototype. The actor's age should be between 25 and 33. It is not specified when the actor will be chosen. In comments, users most often recommend Kazakh actor Yerkebulan Daiyrov for the role.

Kinoafisha reported that the series went into production in early September. Filming is likely funded by the state: the project is supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.

The director is Andrey Bogatyrev. He has worked on the war films "The Red Ghost" and "The Red Ghost 1812," as well as the series "Vampires of the Midlands." The pilot episode will run 46 minutes. Its release is scheduled for June 2027.

Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle wrote that a feature film about Chingiz Aitmatov will be shown in Kazakh cinemas. Sergei Bezrukov will star in it.
