Construction of a bridge over the Pikhtovka River leading to the Rakhmanov Springs has been completed in the East Kazakhstan Region. The national road management operator QazAvtoZhol reported that the structure is 175 meters long and rises up to 45 meters above the terrain, according to infohub.kz.
The final stage was the installation of the seventh span, connecting the two sides of the mountain gorge. The bridge comprises seven spans of 24 meters each and eight supports — two bank supports and six intermediate ones. All supports have been installed and the spans are fully assembled, but finishing work at the site continues.
"Today is a truly landmark day for us. The completion of the bridge over the Pikhtovka is the result of enormous work by a large team. The facility was built in difficult mountain conditions, where every engineering decision required maximum precision and responsibility," said Nurbek Temirkhanov, director of the East Kazakhstan regional branch of QazAvtoZhol National Company JSC.
About 150 specialists took part in the construction. Due to the challenging mountain terrain, the delivery of materials and the operation of heavy machinery had to be organized in hard-to-reach areas. A mobile concrete plant was set up on site for concrete work.
Currently, concrete bollards and railing fences are being installed on the bridge, parapets are being mounted, slopes are being reinforced with Reno mattresses and gabion structures, and traffic safety measures are being carried out.
The asphalt concrete pavement is planned to be laid by the end of September. After all finishing and safety work is completed, the bridge will be ready to open to traffic.
