A serviceman hospitalized after a tragedy during exercises on the Caspian Sea is in stable condition and continues treatment in hospital, infohub.kz reports.
Bekbolat Izbasarov, head of the department, said the serviceman underwent necessary examinations upon admission.
"Upon admission, he underwent all examinations. His condition is now stable, and he is receiving treatment in the therapeutic department. The serviceman is under the supervision of medical staff," Izbasarov told the 24KZ TV channel.
The tragedy occurred on September 24 during combat training tasks by the Naval Forces on the Caspian Sea. Due to a sudden storm and gusty wind, 17 servicemen were swept into the open sea.
As a result, 12 people died, and three were rescued.
A government commission headed by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev has been created to investigate the causes of the emergency. A criminal case opened under articles on negligence and violation of navigation rules is under special control of the Prosecutor General's Office.
In connection with the deaths of the soldiers, President Qasym-Jomart Toqaev declared September 25 a day of national mourning in Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that the search for servicemen continues in the Caspian Sea. Hundreds of people and dozens of pieces of special equipment were involved in the operation.
The Prosecutor General's Office reported that 30 servicemen were interrogated and a circle of suspects was established.
On September 25, the bodies of two more servicemen were found in the Caspian Sea. The Ministry of Defense completed the search and rescue operation.
