In China's Sichuan province, a wall collapsed during a banquet, killing five people and injuring 17 others, according to infohub.kz.
The incident occurred on August 18 in a village in Changning County. According to Xinhua News Agency, the cause was water accumulation on a temporary rain shelter attached to the wall. The excessive pressure caused the ropes holding the structure to tighten, pulling the wall down onto the guests.
According to the local emergency management bureau, a villager was hosting a feast in his courtyard when the wall, which served as support for the shelter, suddenly collapsed. Three people died at the scene, and two more succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
Currently, 17 injured individuals are under medical supervision and receiving necessary care. Local authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
