A marriage has been dissolved in the West Kazakhstan Region after the husband's systematic drinking and aggressive behavior led to constant quarrels and conflicts in the family, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the Telegram channel of the courts of the West Kazakhstan Region, the plaintiff filed a lawsuit seeking dissolution of the marriage. In support of her claims, she stated that the defendant's systematic consumption of alcohol and aggressive behavior caused frequent quarrels and conflicts. In the plaintiff's view, such an environment could have a negative impact on the psychological and physical development of the minor children.

The couple had been married since 2019. They are raising three children, aged six, three and one.

At the court hearing, the defendant admitted that he drinks alcohol, said he wanted to save the family and asked for additional time for reconciliation. However, the parties failed to reconcile within the period set by the court.

The court established that since May 23, 2026, the spouses have not actually lived together, have not maintained a joint household and have ended their family relationship. The plaintiff insisted on dissolving the marriage.

Under a normative resolution of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, if the spouses fail to reconcile after the period granted by the court expires and at least one of them insists on ending the marriage, the court dissolves the marriage.

Taking into account the interests of the minor children, the court determined that they should live with their mother. The court also explained that a parent living separately has the right to communicate with the children and is obliged to take part in their upbringing.

In accordance with the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Marriage (Matrimony) and Family," parents are obliged to support their minor children. For three or more children, child support is collected at half of the parent's earnings and (or) other income.

Accordingly, the court ordered the defendant to pay child support to the plaintiff for the maintenance of the three minor children. The ruling on child support is subject to immediate enforcement.

The spouses did not file a claim for division of jointly owned property. The court's decision has not entered into legal force.
