A court in the West Kazakhstan Region has formally stripped a woman of her parental rights after she drove her 10-year-old son to starvation and a life of scavenging at a garbage dump. The news is reported by infohub.kz.
From birth, the boy lived with his mother in an abandoned house where strangers gathered constantly. The woman led an antisocial lifestyle and abused alcohol.
"The boy never attended school, could not read or write, and got his food and clothing from the dump," the court's press service said.
In 2026, the child was removed from the family and sent to a Child Support Center, then placed in the care of a family-type children's village. Throughout that time, the mother never once visited her son and ignored the court hearings.
According to a psychologist's assessment, the child suffered severe trauma and has completely lost his attachment to his mother. The boy is gripped by panic fear of her, afraid of ending up at the dump again.
"The boy admitted that he likes living in the children's village because there is a clean bed and good food here," the agency added.
The court found it proven that the woman had maliciously evaded raising her son. The mother has been stripped of her parental rights and is also obliged to pay child support, which will be transferred to the boy's personal deposit account.
