Since the beginning of 2026, government officials in the West Kazakhstan Region have violated traffic rules 119 times while driving official vehicles, reports infohub.kz.
It turned out that most violations were related to speeding. These facts were reviewed at a meeting of the Ethics Council. Murat Baisalov, head of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the West Kazakhstan Region and chairman of the Ethics Council, noted that special attention was paid to cases of using official transport outside working hours.
In particular, an official car from one of the rural akimats was spotted in the city around three in the morning. "Appropriate measures will be taken against the driver of the official vehicle. We will also consider the issue regarding the financially responsible person," said Baisalov.
Another case was more serious: police detained the akim of the village of Akzhaik, who was driving a car while intoxicated. The Ethics Council regarded his act as unworthy of a civil servant and recommended that the akim be relieved of his post.
The department emphasized that the use of official transport must be justified and comply with established requirements.
