In southern Kazakhstan, a taxi driver has been punished for rudeness and insults in a messaging exchange with a client. The incident occurred in the Zhambyl region, where the man was held criminally liable, fined, and ordered to pay moral damages, as reported by infohub.kz.
According to the official Telegram channel of the Zhambyl regional courts, the Sarysu District Court heard a criminal case on private prosecution for insult (Part 1 of Article 131 of the Criminal Code). The court established that the conflict arose after a taxi ride. In February 2025, the taxi driver, in the presence of the victim's mother, used obscene and degrading language towards him.
A year later, a new conflict occurred between the men. The victim posted an ad looking for a taxi, and after repeated calls via WhatsApp, he sent the driver a voice message demanding that he stop contacting him. In response, he received an audio message containing crude and offensive expressions.
The driver's guilt was proven by witness testimony and a forensic psychological and philological examination. The defendant admitted his guilt and explained that his harsh words were spoken in a fit of anger. He expressed regret and apologized to the victim.
The private prosecutor insisted on strict punishment and compensation for moral damages. The court took into account as mitigating circumstances the admission of guilt, the presence of minor children, the fact that it was a first criminal offense, and the absence of aggravating circumstances.
The court found the man guilty under Part 1 of Article 131 of the Criminal Code and imposed a fine of 20 MCI (86,500 tenge). Additionally, he was ordered to pay 20,000 tenge in compensation for moral damages. The verdict has entered into legal force.
