Prices for a number of socially significant food products (SSFP) in Kazakhstan have decreased, according to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan as of August 12, 2026... reports infohub.kz.
The most noticeable price drop was seen in seasonal vegetables and fruits. Potatoes fell by 4.2%, white cabbage by 1.2%, apples by 1.1%, and onions and carrots by 1% each. Hard and semi-hard cheeses became 0.3% cheaper, cottage cheese (5-9% fat) and salt by 0.2%, and first-grade flour and sour cream by 0.1%.
At the same time, prices for wheat bread, pasta, beef, horse meat, pasteurized milk, eggs, and butter remained unchanged during the reporting period.
Thanks to the new harvest, the lowest prices for fruit and vegetable products were recorded in the southern and northern regions of the country. The average price for potatoes nationwide was 259 tenge per kilogram. The cheapest potatoes were in Pavlodar at 191 tenge per kilogram.
Cabbage averaged 189 tenge per kilogram across Kazakhstan. The most affordable cabbage was sold in Turkistan (142 tenge) and Taraz (152 tenge). Apples averaged 797 tenge per kilogram nationwide, with the lowest price registered in Shymkent at 639 tenge.
The average price for beef with bones stood at 3,779 tenge per kilogram, and for chicken at 1,736 tenge.
Regionally, a weekly price decline was noted in ten major cities. Taldykorgan led the decrease in the cost of social products (-0.7%). In Aktau and Zhezkazgan, prices fell by 0.4%, in Petropavlovsk by 0.3%, and in Astana by 0.2%. In Karaganda, Kostanay, Uralsk, Ust-Kamenogorsk, and Pavlodar, the decrease was 0.1%.
In Almaty, Aktobe, Semey, Taraz, and Turkistan, prices remained at the level of the previous week.
