Books, souvenirs, and other items featuring Pavel Durov may be removed from Wildberries and Ozon. The marketplaces have initiated checks on their assortment following the inclusion of the Telegram co-founder in Russia's list of terrorists and extremists, reports TASS, as cited by infohub.kz.
The press service of RVB (Wildberries & Russ) stated that they are conducting an internal investigation to assess whether such items fall under restrictions. If violations are confirmed, product cards related to Durov will be blocked.
Ozon noted that it is acting in accordance with Russian law. After a person or materials are added to the list of terrorists and extremists, the company checks its assortment and removes relevant items.
"In the near future, goods directly related to Pavel Durov, including books and products with his image, will be hidden from our marketplace," Ozon's press service said.
Earlier, Rosfinmonitoring added Pavel Durov to the list of terrorists and extremists. Prior to that, he was charged in Russia with aiding terrorist activities and an international wanted procedure was initiated.
According to Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), Telegram's administration did not delete channels, chats, and bots that, the agency claims, were used for preparing and coordinating terrorist and other illegal activities. Russia's communications watchdog Roskomnadzor also stated that it had sent over 150,000 requests to the messaging service to remove prohibited content, but they were not fulfilled.
