The merged company Wildberries and Russ plans to purchase 478,000 square meters of galvanized metal netting. The material is to be installed at facilities in eight Russian regions, according to infohub.kz.
The tender was organized by RVB LLC. According to the procurement card, the order was published on August 5, 2026. Bids offering delivery times longer than seven days were not accepted.
The documentation does not specify exactly what Wildberries needs so much netting for. A source at an industrial company told The Bell that the material could be used to protect warehouses from drones.
"Fencing everything off with a metal barrier is still the most popular option, given its fairly high effectiveness and the absence of risks and any regulatory requirements—well, apart from construction ones," the publication quoted its source as saying.
The volume of netting being purchased could cover about 67 standard football pitches. Metal structures are usually installed at some distance from the facility being protected so that they absorb the impact of a drone.
The tender appeared after a series of drone attacks on Wildberries logistics centers. Several warehouses were severely damaged or destroyed. The company itself has not publicly linked the netting purchase to the drone raids.
